Wildmoka allows you to bring live video into the platform. This guide walks you through how to add, configure, and activate live streams for clipping, editing, or publication.
Supported Ingest Types
You can ingest live streams in two ways:
| Ingest Type | Description |
|---|---|
| RTMP | Push a stream directly from your encoder to a Wildmoka-generated RTMP URL. |
| SRT | Listener or Caller modes |
| HLS | Pull a stream directly into Wildmoka using a public HLS playback URL. |
Adding a New Stream
To create a new ingest stream:
Click the Streams icon in the left-hand Navigation Toolbar.
Select the “Live Streams” tab at the top.
Click the “+” (Add Stream) button.
Stream Configuration Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Stream Name | Display name used for identification. Short, descriptive names are recommended. You can also upload a custom icon. |
| Language | Used internally for EPG ingestion (French/English). Does not affect subtitles or UI. |
| Transcode Profile | Choose from pre-configured output renditions. These determine the formats generated when the stream is ingested. |
| Default Tags | Tags automatically applied to any clip created from this stream. Helps with search and organization. |
| Main Stream Type | Choose between RTMP or HLS: • RTMP: A Wildmoka publish URL is generated for encoder use. • HLS: Input the public playback URL. |
| Backup Stream (Optional) | Add a secondary stream (same format as main is recommended). If the main stream fails, Wildmoka will automatically roll over to the backup. |
Enabling Ingest and DVR Recording
Once your stream is configured:
Use the “Activate” slider to start or stop ingest for the stream.
This triggers DVR recording for the stream, enabling you to clip and work from it in real time.
🔄 You can enable or disable streams manually or automatically via the Event Scheduling feature (see Scheduling Events).
Stream Management Tips
You can monitor active streams from the Streams page.
If your account has concurrent stream limits, use the Activate toggle to control which streams are live at any given moment.
Backup streams are highly recommended for mission-critical events to ensure continuity.
