The AI Live Subtitles feature, available from the Live Rooms, allows users to generate and display real-time captions and live translation from selected source streams. These generated captions can be burned directly into your final video output, enhancing accessibility and reach for your live streams.
How It Works
For maximum operational efficiency, the solution woks in 2 steps :
- Enable live subtitles on selected live streams.
- Set how and when captions are displayed.
Step 1: Enable live subtitles on selected live streams
Enable Live Subtitles on your desired video sources and configure the settings detailed below.
Activation Mode
This setting defines the conditions under which the live subtitles generator is activated and runs.
Always-on: The live subtitles engine will always run (i.e., as long as your live room is up and running), generating captions regardless of language difference.
Auto: Subtitles and translation will only be generated when the source language of the audio is different from the target language you have set.
Disabled: The live subtitle generation is turned off for the selected source.
Source Language
This setting tells the AI what language to expect from the audio of your video source.
Manual Selection: Select the expected source language from the dropdown list (e.g., English, Spanish, French).
Auto Detection: You can select Auto in which case, the system will pre-analyze the audio input and automatically determine what the source language is before generating captions or translation.
Target Language
This setting defines the language you want the subtitles to be displayed in.
Choose the target language for your live captions.
Step 2: Define subtitles display rules
Once you have configured the AI Live Subtitles settings on your source streams, the final step is to define how and when those generated captions will be displayed on the screen. These display rules, including the styling, are configured either within a scene or in a template.
In the subtitles tab, users can select which subtitles track to display. Selection is as follow :
- Disabled: No subtitles displayed
- Auto: Automatically select the track of source displayed in the scene
- Manual selection : list of enabled subtitles track
It is also possible to use the shortcut templates directly to add subtitles
