Why we're ending support for the legacy editor

We will soon be placing the legacy clip editor into End of Life (EOL) in favor of our new clipping interface, which offers a significantly better experience on several levels:

  • A redesigned interface: built to keep the focus on live, it streamlines the workflow and reduces distractions during key moments.
  • New creative tools:
    • An integrated captioning tool, with text-based editing and word-by-word granularity, to generate and adjust subtitles directly in the editor, faster and more precisely than with the legacy module.
    • Subtitle resynchronization, to easily realign captions with the audio after a cut or an editing adjustment.
    • A reframing tool to automatically adapt framing to different formats (vertical, square, landscape), without starting over for each destination platform.
    • The Ken Burns effect, to add motion and dynamism to still images.
    • Vertical layouts with blurred video backgrounds.
    • Support for dynamic overlays based on Lottie animations, to enrich your clips with animated graphic elements directly in the editor.
    • Access to AI Moments (beta), which automatically identify moments of interest in a video or livestream and surface them directly in the timeline, a considerable time saver compared to manual searching.

These advancements are only possible on the new user interface, as well as for all new upcoming features and tools that we’ll launch from now on.

On September 23rd, the new clipping experience will be enabled for all customers, and configurable for all platform users.

How we’ll handle the sunsetting of the legacy editor

Activation of the new interface for legacy tenants

If your platform tenant isn’t enabled for the new clipping interface yet, then we’ll activate the feature on September 23rd, 2026.

Once the feature is activated, the tenant administrator shall enable it for each user profile. Therefore each administrator keeps full control on when specific user teams should get access to the new clipping experience.

Both the legacy and the new interfaces will co-exist

During this interim period, all users whose user profiles have been enabled with the new clip editor will see two menu icons on the left bar menu:

  • A legacy icon, for accessing the legacy clip editor
  • A standard icon, for accessing the new clip editor

Users can set their default editor in their user preference settings.

Note: as the new clip editor offers features not supported in the legacy clip editor, all clips created with one or the other clip editor can be modified with the same editor only.

This interim period shall be used to test the new clipping experience, check that all your production workflows are still supported, and get familiar with the new features.

De-activation of the legacy interface

Once all your editorial teams have switched to the new interface and no more remaining editorial workflow still relies on the legacy interface, reach out to your Wildmoka representative, who will assist with the deactivation of the legacy interface.

Once a deactivation date has been agreed, an in-app banner will notify users of the legacy interface removal a few days before the actual deactivation.

In any case, the legacy interface will get out of support by the end of the year.
